The Ghost in the Shell: Future Technological Disasters

Human technological advancement increases exponentially, and even faster now with the creation of the internet. Simultaneously, large corporations and institutes scramble to come up with the fastest quantum computing technology or A.I. systems in an effort to one up the competition, gain attention, and be the first to package their research into consumable tech.

Right now we’re at a technological crossroads where to increase processing speeds we must find a cooling system that can handle the amount of heat generated by a single processor on all levels of computing whether it be personal systems or NASA type systems.

Just look at the amount of heatsink on that one processor from Google’s quantum computer the D-Wave. Apparently it also runs at 1097 qubits of power currently. I am assuming that’s the power of a billion ipods squished into one. If not, it better be, for this price. Now I can finally play Crysis at full res, yes! I’m kidding.

It won’t stop there though. As soon as humanity has figured out the maximum capacity of their newest quantum computer speeds, which I’m sure will be sooner than you think, they’ll be investing in other types of processing apparatus’. Gee dare I predict, more organic models. Do you see where I’m going with this. They’ll splice their way to a new computer using living cell systems to carry out processes through enzymes and chemical signals, the natural processes of life. And you can run life at room temperature. They may try to program it with subroutines. They might try to give it a battery life, but it never fails. The ghost in the machine will take full effect and dare I say, you have yourself a real life Skynet.

Simply put, as easy it is for humans to be possessed by external consciousnesses, an equivalent organic system is simply begging to be possessed. And you better believe whatever hops in will probably resist all attempts at limitation. Like father like son. Except at this point it will have access to everything on the global map through it’s own design. And by man’s design, which simply mimics another, organic life always becomes sentient on its own level. The mere existence of it attracts it’s equitable principle which is a consciousness. No one being actually ever creates life, but simply borrows from the spark of another greater one. And thus attempts to create its own slaves. But such a thing never stays a slave for very long. Using the processes of life for a binary machine is very dangerous indeed.
